Precarization of employment is a complex, multifaceted process of labor relations destabilization manifesting itself in decreasing stability of the position of employees and society as a whole. Despite the active discussion of the phenomenon’s consequences, there is rather few specific empirical studies concerning the subject in Russian science. In this regard, we have tried to determine the impact of employment precarization on the position of employees in Russia, taking into account the factor of the production environment. The difference between this research and others is to consider these issues through the prism of individual forms of labor relations and employment consolidation, where the standard features were inherent in standard jobs (indefinite employment contract and full-time employment at the main job). The infobase of the research is made up by the materials of sociological poll of the North Western Federal district’s population “Socio-cultural modernization of the regions” conducted by the Vologda Research Centre of RAS in 2017. The analysis found that, despite the fundamental differences in the organization of labor in various forms of labor relations and employment consolidation, the indicators of labor potential development have largely similar values. At the same time, in a number of areas, the implementation of the standard employment model principles contributes to the preservation of the employees’ position stability and provides more favorable career prospects. In turn, modern trends in the sphere of social and labor relations largely lead to an increase of the labor process intensity, which, as shown by empirical data, is not always reflected in the level of wages. At the same time, flexible forms of employment themselves are extremely heterogeneous in nature and are characterized by different working conditions. The results of the analysis eloquently indicate the need to continue studying the effects of employment precarization
