Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
Manufacturing enterprises are an important link in the socio-economic system of presence territories, their impact on regional budgets, urban infrastructure, environmental aspects, etc., is great. At present, some of these enterprises are city-forming, which gives a positive effect (employment, payments to the budgets, implementation of social projects, etc.), at the same time their presence affects the environmental situation in the nearby cities and the population health. The non-ferrous metallurgy industry plays a significant role in the Russian economy, accounting for 9% of the total industrial output of Russian Federation, so we chose the largest Russian non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises (in terms of revenues) the Public Joint Stock Company “NorNickel” (Krasnoyarsk Krai) and the Public Joint Stock Company “Rusal” (Irkutsk Oblast). The paper analyzes the natural and migratory movements of the population, mortality by main causes, and the enterprises’ social policy. The study revealed a natural population decline from 2018 to 2021 in the Irkutsk Oblast and Krasnoyarsk Krai, and a negative migration balance throughout the study period in the Irkutsk Oblast. One of the reasons for this can be the deterioration of the environmental situation in the regions, especially exceeding the permissible values of chemical emissions. The measures taken by enterprises to preserve the health of employees are also considered, but the question of their effectiveness remains open. The purpose of the work is to study the relationship between the presence of manufacturing industries in the region and the population health (using the example of non-ferrous metallurgy industry). The prospect for further research include an in-depth analysis of the measures effectiveness taken by both the government and enterprises, and investments in social programs to maintain the population health, including those working at such enterprises
